Most gun owners probably shouldn't be allowed to have them. Mental health and gun owners competency checks ought to be mandatory. I know for my concealed carry class all they had us do was fire a gun twice. We didn't even have to hit the target and they didn't even let us load the weapons for fear that someone would have a negligent discharge. It was ridiculous.
Anyone who disagrees with mental health and competency checks is also someone that shouldn't be allowed to carry. If you own a gun and carry it regularly, you should understand why.
