I think she had an ulterior motive of encouraging housewives to get out and work because that stood to benefit her people, and thus herself and had little to do with helping women. The entire feminist anti men narrative is a fiction. What's notable about Steinem is her role in manipulating other women into a life of employment over a manufactured bogeyman.

In between being recruited in India & being setup by the CIA in Harvard, Steinem was involved in the disappearance of Rear Admiral Quiggle.

This fresh faced CIA recruit was one of the last people to see the admiral alive before he vanished off a ship destined for the US.

Quiggle's relatives disputed the official story which suggested that the Rear Admiral had committed suicide by jumping overboard.

When Steinem got to Harvard, she was put in charge of a CIA operation setup to counteract communist influence at an Austrian youth festival in Vienna during 1959.

She was now a member of the so-called Independent Service for Information (ISI).

Steinem couldn't plead ignorance about who was funding the Vienna operation.

As reported in the Hugh Wilford masterpiece, "The Mighty Wurlitzer," Steinem asked her recruiters about the ISI's funding and it was confirmed to her that she was in fact funded by conduits for the CIA.

Steinem & Pottinger dated from 1974 until 1984. Just as his involvement in the Iran-Contra affair began to be exposed, Steinem left Pottinger for (((Mort Zuckerman))).
