Take Karmelo Anthony. He did it. It really wasn't self defense. But at the same time the victim really did shove him.
He got 35 years.
Assuming he is right handed, offer him the removal of his right hand and 10% of his time as a choice. So amputate his right hand at the wrist + 3.5 years in prison or 35 years in prison. His choice.
