The parents, 36-year-old Jessie Waldroup and 27-year-old Desirae Uzunboylu, were interviewed and told officers they had no idea how the child got alcohol in her system and denied using drugs or alcohol, according to their arrest reports.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the victim’s 7-year-old brother returned home from school, found his parents asleep in the living room, and went to check on his sister. He found her unresponsive in her pack-and-play, and 911 was called, according to an arrest affidavit.

First responders arrived at the home, noted she was breathing but still unresponsive, and had her taken by helicopter to a children’s trauma center.

The reason for the child’s condition then became clear: she had a BAC of 0.383. According to the Cleveland Clinic, anything above 0.30% is likely to result in alcohol poisoning, which can be fatal.
