They are all 169% dug in to their side, nothing is changing.
Judge spanks them all sending them back to deliberate. It’s a horrible fate, cuz you get locked in a shytty little room with 11 other people and NO books, no paper, no phones, absolutely nothing to do or draw on or doodle, nothing. Just facing the horrible people for hours & hours.
Once the jury foreman gives the judge a note saying you are hopelessly deadlocked everyone expects to go home & judge to call a mistrial, but first you have to suffer.

And jurors are absolutely allowed paper. In fact, you get a notebook to keep notes in during the entire trial. These notes are incredibly helpful during deliberations.
