The woman killed in an unprovoked stabbing Monday in Midtown Manhattan has been identified as a vice president in Bank of America.

New Jersey resident Erin Piacenti, 32 years old, was in Times Square when a woman armed with knives attacked her and a man shortly after 4:20 p.m., according to the New York City Police Department.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed,” a Bank of America spokesman said. “Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones.”

Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen near Seventh Avenue and West 42nd Street in what Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch called a seemingly “random and unprovoked attack.”

Police identified the woman who attacked the two victims as Pamela Cisneros, 49. Officers tased and then shot Cisneros as she walked toward them brandishing two large knives, the department said. She was taken to Bellevue, where she died, police said.
