Idaho is a finalist to become a federal nuclear powerhouse — and home for waste

Idaho is on the shortlist to become the center of America’s nuclear energy industry — and a warehouse for much of its radioactive waste.

The Department of Energy announced Tuesday that Idaho is one of five finalists to host a proposed Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus, part of an aggressive federal push to revive domestic nuclear energy production. The hubs aim to “support activities across the entire nuclear fuel cycle,” according to a DOE press release. That means fabricating, enriching and, when possible, reprocessing nuclear fuel before permanently storing spent material on site.

Irradiating Idahoans with fatal doses only can improve their life. We're talking about some of the stupidest, most retarded subhumans on earth.

They impaled a guy to the ceiling.

Stationary Low-Power Reactor Number One, also known as SL-1, initially the Argonne Low Power Reactor (ALPR), was a United States Army experimental nuclear reactor at the National Reactor Testing Station (NRTS) in Idaho about forty miles (65 km) west of Idaho Falls, now the Idaho National Laboratory. It operated from 1958 to 1961, when an accidental explosion killed three plant operators, leading to changes in reactor design. This is the only U.S. reactor accident to have caused immediate deaths.[1]

True, you can't really blame Idaho for the shytty design - that was down to the people at the Argonne National Lab in Illinois.

Illinois, Idaho... what's the difference? Both are meaningless "I" states.  Indiana too, since we're making a list.

The astonishing level of fuqup in the design IS pretty impressive though. Obviously someone looked at it and went "OK, we have a reactor that can go from shutdown to prompt critical based on the position of a single control rod.  Nothing can possibly go wrong here!".
