Iran is an economic basket case. Their GDP per capita is one of the worst in the ME, only ahead of civil war ravaged Syria and perennial basket case Yemen. The global market is adapting to the situation and it's not clear if Iran's oil infrastructure could be economically rebuilt if the US loses patience and blasts it. Never mind their electrical grid.

Yet Trump is willing to let them have control over Hormuz in order to end the war… if only Israel and Iran would let him just quit and walk away.
