Absolutely false. Modern cars are significantly safer, more efficient, and more reliable. Old cars look cool, but they are not
necessarily better.
One example: electronic ignition. It is Significantly more reliable and efficient than old style mechanical rotors which are extremely difficult to time properly and can easily be broken.

It’s a simple job to swap in electronic ignition/distributor to a 70s car.
Upgrade to disc brakes. Easy.
No car built in 2026 will be dragged out of a junkyard as a classic in 2066.
Nor will it ever run by that stage.

If I built and tried to market a car with 1970s technology, even if it passed safety and cafe standards, it would be so unreliable nobody would buy it.
