Mike the MechanicNo electronics
No updates
No special dealer tools
No complicated black boxes.
Just the basics:
- Spark
- Fuel
- Air
- Compression
Often parts are fully serviceable.
Plenty of cheap spares or wrecks to pick over.

I want one of these.

Absolutely false. Modern cars are significantly safer, more efficient, and more reliable. Old cars look cool, but they are not
necessarily better.
One example: electronic ignition. It is Significantly more reliable and efficient than old style mechanical rotors which are extremely difficult to time properly and can easily be broken.

What about the Pacer?

Here's a choice for you: a 1977 Chevy Vega, vs. any Honda built in the last twenty years.

I'll take an 80s Toyota Corolla for $100 Alex.

It’s a simple job to swap in electronic ignition/distributor to a 70s car.
Upgrade to disc brakes. Easy.
No car built in 2026 will be dragged out of a junkyard as a classic in 2066.
Nor will it ever run by that stage.

It will rust out in a few years.
And have fun with your 25,000 tune ups.
If I built and tried to market a car with 1970s technology, even if it passed safety and cafe standards, it would be so unreliable nobody would buy it.

If you know cars.
You don’t have rust and breakdown issues son.
If you wrench, you wrench.

1970s GM vehicles literally rusted on the showroom floor.

A slight exaggeration there sir.
Rust? Sure, plenty.
But with some welding and some POR-15 things are good for decades!
If you’re know, you know.

so you're saying if I buy a welding machine, spend months/years learning to weld, modify the vehicle outside the EOM specs - then things will be fine™?
Maybe I could just build my own car from scratch - how hard could it be

Fab Fellatio70s cars were shyt.

No Cigar70s cars are great.
Simple, easy to fix and modify.
Today’s shyt boxes aren’t worth the metal and plastic they’re made from.
