JAIL THAT BAGGER!

Tip: don't eat at Panera Bread or any franchised restaurant really.

There is too much incentive to do stuff like this to save money on food costs.  Usually it is the greedy franchise owner but sometimes it is corporate as well.

Fellow Panera employees, do your stores also make you change the expiration dates?
pǝʌoɹdd∀ pɐǝɹq ɹǝɥʇoW

It's part of opening for my store. Every single item that expires on that day, has to have their date dot swapped out for a newly generated one.

It's a big deal, at my store. You get a lot of shyt from management if you miss one. Ingredients only get thrown away, if they "look" gross..

So let's say the expiration date is always two days after the sticker is made. It's June 6th, and the expiration date that was printed shows that the hard-boiled eggs expire on June 6th. Whoever opens would be expected to print out a new date, showing the product now expires on June 8th.

I hate it, and I think it's disgusting- let alone dangerous.

Just curious how common this is.

Thats how my store use to be. Our GM at the time told us we were wasting too much product and wanted employees, as you said, to just change the lables to new stickers. Or if we had moldy fruit like the strawberries or blueberries, they told us to just pick out the moldy ones, wash whats left and use them.

For me, thats totally unacceptable, disgusting and goes against my morals. If I wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't serve it.

Thats how people get sick and causes lawsuits.

Even though I'd get introuble for "wasting product." I ethically couldn't and rufused to use it.

As of July 1st, we are under complete new management and so thankful for our New GM! We have gone through some major changes and our GM is there for their employees and customers. They really do care for their store and the community they serve. Of course, I do see some people fall into old habits. But, its easy to walk over and remind them of the good changes we need to enforce.

Hopefully you're store's issues get resolved as well! Ive been with my store for... October will be 6 years, and its taken maybe 4 of those years to get the ball rolling for change. Once corporate took things seriously, changes happened really fast and for the better!

Re: Tip: don't eat at Panera Bread or any franchised restaurant really.

Remember when we used to have the gogurt tubes? One time a bottle of the old pesto sauce, the one for the veggie soup, was spilled all over them. It was disgusting, they were completely covered. So obviously I just took the pan out and dumped them all in the trash.

About 20 minutes later, our old GM walked by the trash and saw them. She said what is this?? I explained, and she said “well you just rinse them off then!”

She grabbed every single one out of the trash, ran them under the tap water for a few seconds, and put them back in a pan under the line. Again, these are gogurt tubes. That children put their mouths on. Besides the fact that no child wants to suck on pesto flavored yogurt, they were IN A FREAKING TRASH CAN.

I threw them away again when she wasn’t around. I will never forget that as long as I live.
