Instead of the battle being the bottom 99% vs top 1%, the bottom 99% is now split.

On one side, you have all the blacks, browns, feminists, gays, transgenders, etc.

And their perceived oppressors are heterosexual white christian men in devastated rust belt states.

The populist left no longer chants "we are the 99%", because they don't want to be aligned with "heteronormative cisgendered transphobic neo-nazi white supremacists in rusty pickup trucks".

As for the billionaires & megacorporations, all they have to do is post a LGBT rainbow flag or "Black Lives Matter" flag, and now they're "part of the resistance", and they have an army of brainwashed leftist peasants willing to fight for them.
