Yes. We have previously discussed your bag-boomer music tastes.

Come now.
Don’t be snippy.
I just happen to have a more refined taste in classic rock music.

He was plenty rich, don't forget he had that partnership with Peavy, and then moved on to create his own music gear company, EVH. That, combined with the Van Halen music sales, and the fact that he and his brother Alex owned the publishing rights to almost all of Van Halen's music, he died plenty rich and then some, in my opinion...

Superproducer Quincy Jones asked him to do it as a favor.
Later, when VH's CD came out with several crossover "pop" singles, Jones helped it to become VH's highest charting CD at that time, with singles 'Panama' and 'Jump' both crossing over into the pop charts and elevating VH to be the first major metal band to broaden its appeal to a much larger audience. Doing a favor for Jones was a shrewd business move by Eddie that paid off in a big way. (especially since the Van Halen brothers and DLR had ganged up on Michael Anthony and forced him to sign away his songwriter credits for all the songs on '1984' just before it was released)
Why do you think Eddie never sued?

For sure.
I read more about it and I guess he could have never gotten a songwriter credit for the solo even though he created it. The songwriter credit is where the money is. So maybe he would t have made much.

Bad AI response.
All other sources indicate - and the story is quite famous - that he did it for free on a lark.
Basically, Quincy Jones called him up, he came down to the studio for a half hour, ran through it a few times, and was done.
