Columbus = 1492. The Mayflower = 1620. 100 people for a settlement, half died.

Why did it take 128 years - several generations - to get their shyt together to start a little colony?

Seems like something you could throw together in a few years.

Your question reveals the answer.

They weren’t sending us their best and brightest.

shrug  it didn’t take Spain or Portugal 128 years to colonize the shyt out of their areas and get richer than fuq doing so.

After 4 or so generations go by info is distorted and forgotten like it never happened or was a work of fiction.
Does anyone know the names & history of their great-great grandparents? 4 generations = @ 100 years sad

Like how Atlantis and leprechauns the Egyptian Pyramid construction info just faded away.

True, just looked it up. Spain & Portugal didn’t waste time. With a big head start, why did their colonies become such big shytholes? First colony ever = Fuqing Haiti?!

1492: Columbus's landing in the Americas, initiating European colonization.
1493: Second voyage establishes the first European settlement in the Americas on Hispaniola (modern-day Haiti/Dominican Republic).
1494: The Treaty of Tordesillas divides the world between Spain and Portugal.
1519-1521: Conquest of the Aztec Empire in Mexico.
1530s: Conquest of the Inca Empire in Peru.
1535: Establishment of the Viceroyalty of New Spain (capital in Mexico City).

Spain & Portugal had the monopoly. Why didn’t they send a ship farther north and just claim Maine & all of North America while they could?
Why leave that northern land for the French & English?

They would rather fuq around in the jungle?

Gold and silver, son.  They lived like fuqing kings for hundreds of years on the loot they pulled out of Central and South America.  The north was comparatively a lot of hard work for a longer period of time for less reward.

Too cold. Portuguese and Spanish are from the warmer climates. French and English from colder climates so they were used to colder weather up north.

They had no reason to make a dangerous journey to fuqall North America and risk their lives on a mostly unknown place. Things were just fine in England.

If you would research why the Pilgrims, and later the Puritans, came to America at that time because the government started cracking down on how people could worship. So the people who wanted to worship their own way moved to America where they could worship freely.
