If you're following the latest, the richest and smartest have already changed their residences - on paper anyway - the hell OUT of California by December 31.   The really rich ones know that the democrat party cheat machine will pass the "billionaire's tax".   This tax will:

1.  Tax EVERYONE with a net global worth of 1 billion or more (On Jan. 1, 2026), 5% of that net worth in cash, in 2027.  (One time, until they change it).

2. Apply a special tax on people with a 1 billion net worth forever.

3.  Will apply state taxes to those people for TEN YEARS after they have left the state.

4. The threshold WILL be changed, until they get to you.

Remember, the US Income tax (passed in the 1910's, I believe), would ONLY apply to the top EXTREMELY WEALTHY individuals.   Hope that makes you feel better when you sign YOUR tax return!
