Sounds interesting, but the plan includes refueling the Starship in orbit using other rockets. Since SpaceX has never done something like that, that is going to be a major risk, and something they'll need to be ready to do this year.

Also, they say, "This method allows Starship to transport large crews and cargo efficiently, paving the way for human settlement of Mars and making the vision of a multiplanetary civilization achievable.", which sounds cool. But the article also notes that the length of the trip is six to nine months, and these flight windows happen every 26 months. So, absent some technology to produce food, water and oxygen on Mars, these flights will need to carry at least a two year's worth of supplies.

Put the humans into suspended animation (comatose state), and wake them up when they arrive.
