I hope you feel better. Might also be a good idea to do general blood work too. Checking things like b-12 and iron. I have two relatives with different cancers who partially caught it because of oddness in the bloodwork. One also had strange symptoms when swallowing (stomach cancer). Sometimes tumors can cause various strangeness int he body too. I'm NOT saying you have cancer, just a good idea to have them check things where it's easy to check.

I bet I’d qualify for insurance to pay for it since it is a health risk for me as opposed to some people getting it done for cosmetic reasons.
But. Besides the pain it carries significant risk.

I had normal every day (year) bloodwork done in June. All that was good. But nothing more esoteric like your suggestions. Do you just tell your doctor that you want those things checked? Or is it based on medical necessity? Or do you just pay out of pocket?

I think striking a balance is best. You won’t want to be a pest but you do want to be an advocate for yourself. As you know, dick toes are under a very high cognitive load and that can lead to SOP even when SOP might not be right in an edge case. For example, when I was having my gallbladder issues I was the one who suggested an ultrasound.
