Tom LeykisIt has been a very cool spring, with snow and frost marking the beginning of this week alone. But, it's warming up and this weekend will be good to get the cucumbers and tomatoes into the ground.
Mostly warm temperatures on the way, with a couple of nights next week to cover the delicate plantings up. We know how and when to do that, which is unheard of for mid May. I have a flat of candy onions ready to go in one bed, which will tolerate a cold night or two. They did well last year, and this year's technique should be even better.
The cucumbers should make great salads and pickles, but this year I'm going to trim away the leaves at ground level, to keep the cucumbers from hiding and getting too big.
MORE State Fair prizes this year? I have an entry ready!

Tom LeykisVery light rain this morning, with a good planting day ahead. Sorry if I'm not too interested in discussing left wing hysteria.
Anybody have a good recipe for onion rings made from candy onions? I have about 6 weeks to learn.

Sounds like you have a good gardening plan in place.
Hope you are feeling good internet friend.

Thank you Sir. This is our 4th growing season at our new home. Not only is the environment much different than growing in San Francisco, the annual variables keep us on our toes. Just sticking with gardening, this new life is new opportunity to fill and grow food in 21 raised beds. The wife does not need raised beds to grow great bushels of lovely decorative flowers. Of course the pollinators she attracts helps ALL the plants.
Feeling good today. Reached the 1/2 point of my treatment plan yesterday.
Wish I could find some Prime Rib seeds!
