Apparent Publicity Stunt Shuts Down 101 Freeway

A tow truck arrived on the 101 Freeway shortly before noon on Tuesday to remove a bus blocking three lanes of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, three people were arrested for their alleged involvement in the apparent publicity stunt. Dispatchers received 911 calls saying a bus was parked in the middle of the freeway and musicians were performing on the roof, according to CHP.

"It appears they were trying to pull some type of publicity stunt," said CHP Lt. Omar Watson. "This type of activity is very dangerous. It can cause accidents and backups on the freeway.

The driver of the bus fled the scene and took the keys to the bus with him, Watson said.

The incident happened on the Hollywood Freeway just south of the Sunset Boulevard exit about 10:30 a.m.

By 11:55 a.m., a tow truck had arrived and was removing the vehicle.

The musicians were identified as the Orange County-based band, "the Imperial Stars."

According to the band's Facebook page:
