I think they should build the mosque in lower NYC

Mcveigh didn't blow up the Murrah Bldg because of religion, you moron. He blew it up because he was anti government and was particularly upset about Ruby Ridge.

And all 19 hijackers were muslims, moron, only some of them weren't saudis. IDIOT.

You are correct they were all 100% muslim.  Some had different ethnic backgrounds other than Saudi.

The mosque in question is NOT on the WTC site

If you goggle for a berlington coat factory near manhattan look for the one that's closed...that's the spot

It's going to be 12 stories tall which is the same size as what's in front of it facing the WTC site...meaning if you are at the WTC you will
NOT see it.

There's dozens of mosques in the NYC area and there's an islamic center 1,000 feet away from the WTC...it's been there since 1970.

o yeah that and 4 of the 19 hijackers weren't even muslims...

Did we block churches from being created in Oklahoma city area after the bombing in 1995?

Look, legally they have every right to build the mosque.  Nobody in this thread is arguing with that.  But this is deliberately being done as an 'in your face' gesture by building it 2 blocks away.  The building in question was also hit by debris from one of the plane, so technically this building IS PART OF ground zero.  Two blocks in Manhattan is not a large distance by any means.  Believe me, if this is built, and it probably will be, 1 billion Muslims will be laughing at the gullibility of the US.

What was the religion of the 4 other hijackers? wtf

Re: I think they should build the mosque in lower NYC

1)There are already mosques in lower Manhattan more than enough for the few muzzies that live there
2) location is too close to ground zero (one of the planes landing gear actually crashed through the buildings roof
3) muzzies have a tradition of building victory mosques on the site of their conquests.
The group wanting to build the mosque are called the Cordoba Initiative - named after the infamous Cordoba victory mosque that was built to celebrate the muzzies conquering Spain.
4) both democrats and republicans and independents are against the mosque being build AT THAT LOCATION. 63% of Americans for that matter.
5) The Imam has a history of anti-American comments including that "America is partly to blame for 9-11"
6) The Imam already has lied twice about the source of the funding.
So this should be looked into

You should be even more worried that Zero is spending our tax dollars to fly this Imam to the middle east on a fund-raising junket for the building of the mosque, IN CLEAR VIOLATION OF THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.

Hang on.

My mom grew up in Italy and came over here when she was 30.
My dad's father was born in Italy and immigrated here when he was 3 or 4. His mother was born here 1 year after her parents immigrated here from Sicily.

I speak Italian - fluently.
I speak it at home.

But I am an American, and proud of it.
I find the history of this nation and its people to be both awe-inspiring and deeply humbling.

I am not a blind fool - I know that this nation was not perfect in the past and is not perfect now. I also have great respect for the people of other places and societies, cherish their languages, customs and histories and wish them all the best.

But I reject the vitriole, demagoguery and polemic of the Left in America and Europe along with the monstruous lies and hypocrisy of Marxist adherents, Jihadists and other self-proclaimed enemies of America, as I have come to learn their faux anger and criticism stems from hatred, envy, and deep-seated feelings of inferiority.

SO: if an immigrant wants to preserve aspects of their culture in their family life - I say more power to him/her. It's actually very cool.

But that shyt stops at the doorstep. Ya don't like it? FUQ OFF. Get back on teh boat and go back to your goat herds in FuqedInTheAssistan or wherever you came from.

You have the perfect immigration family story. Your parents\ grandparents wanted to be in America. So they came and built a life.

It is super that you still speak italian at home. It is super that you kept your traditions.  And as I said- you have the best case scenario.

But, the fact is there are people here that do not want to be American-- they just want to hurt Americans.

In the past when people immigrated to the USA, they wanted to become American.

And they should have been chained to anchors and thrown into the ocean, unless they were from northwestern Europe like the people who created the United States.
