WASHINGTON ? The Senate's top Democrat says a mosque should not be built near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada on Monday became the highest profile Democrat to break with President Barack Obama, who on Friday backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero.
In a statement, Reid said the first amendment protects freedom of religion and he respects that, but the mosque should be built somewhere else.
Critics have said the location of the mosque is insensitive because the terrorists who struck were Islamic extremists.
Reid is in a tight campaign for re-election in Nevada. His opponent, Republican Sharron Angle, earlier in the day called for Reid to say whether he agreed with Obama.

Harry Reid may be an arrogant asshole but he's not a complete idiot. He, like every other Democrat up for re-election is probably reaming Obama's ass behind the scenes. Reid is in deep shyt in NV, and probably would have loved to not have to address this time bomb. For some unknown reason Obama chose to escalate it to a national debate (before furiously backpedalling).

1)There are already mosques in lower Manhattan more than enough for the few muzzies that live there
2) location is too close to ground zero (one of the planes landing gear actually crashed through the buildings roof
3) muzzies have a tradition of building victory mosques on the site of their conquests.
The group wanting to build the mosque are called the Cordoba Initiative - named after the infamous Cordoba victory mosque that was built to celebrate the muzzies conquering Spain.
4) both democrats and republicans and independents are against the mosque being build AT THAT LOCATION. 63% of Americans for that matter.
5) The Imam has a history of anti-American comments including that "America is partly to blame for 9-11"
6) The Imam already has lied twice about the source of the funding.
So this should be looked into
You should be even more worried that Zero is spending our tax dollars to fly this Imam to the middle east on a fund-raising junket for the building of the mosque, IN CLEAR VIOLATION OF THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.
