SpankyWhen you move to a city you, naturally, are moving into a more cosmopolitan environment where you will encounter people from all walks of life.
This leads to you recognizing that people from different backgrounds have more in common than not.
Once you realize that all people share the similar goals, desires, challenges, needs, and wants it makes you open to supporting diverse candidates offering policies aimed at helping people because you know that "people" includes you.
---
When you live on a giant chunk of land with hardly any people, and all those people look like you, you have no opportunity to regular encounter people from different walks of life.
This leads you to distrusting people from different backgrounds and you assume you have little in common.
When you mistakenly believe that different people have different goals, desires, challenges, needs, and wants it makes you selfish. You worry that a candidate who looks different than you will only support policies that will benefit others and not you.

Moving to a place where you're massively outnumbered by people who hate your guts because you're a white man, and vote accordingly, makes you more broad minded!

anon user #3Good assessment.

People in cities have jobs, opportunities, and experiences and therefore are smarter.
Rural people are fuqing stupid and their stupidity keeps them poor, desperate, and bitter.

anon user #3There is truth to this. If you go out to rural areas you'll see a lot of Not Trespassing, "If you can read this, I have you in my sights already", and shyt like that. I mean how much of an antisocial asshole do you have to be to threaten to shoot someone for pulling up your driveway?

In a city you have people interacting constantly about everything. There is a need for a government to step in and enforce the law and the regulations and all the other things required for people to live at a city's density. If you live in a city the government is a necessary thing that you may not like but you need it.
If you live in a rural area the only time you interact with the government is when they want money or your fuqing up by lighting fireworks or impeding a water way or some other stupid shyt. You hate the government.
