"Parisian here.

Rising costs of living, declining quality of public services (education, fire services, etc.) despite the extremely high taxes we pay here, severely increasing inequality (inequality is higher in France than it was prior to the French revolution).

Unlike what foreign media is saying, it has absolutely nothing to do with immigration, islam or judaism.. it's a general revolt of people from across all walks of life.

Yes they are turning violent because no one feels listened to. This donkey that spoke yesterday on the TV blamed everything except the actual causes of unrest in the country.. do I agree with violent protests, no. But I agree with addressing the cause, not the symptoms.

Not to mention the protests were by and large peaceful last week, with burning bins getting more attention that literal 14 year olds losing their hands and eyes to police brutality.

We see salaires frozen and everyone acting as if we're in austerity because we're facing a war... and yet companies are making record profits.

It just makes no sense.. and politicians simply tell us to "get back to work" and "have more kids" when there aren't enough jobs for our overqualified workforce and none of us can afford kids.

We pay massive taxes that in the end appear to go up the ass of politicians and retirees.. not to the people actually working. We're the only country in the world where the average retiree makes more money and has a higher standard of living than the average working adult or child."
