4. GOP leadership determines it will be best to cut ties with Trump and ask him to resign.
5. Trump refuses, GOP votes to convict him.
6. President Vance.
7. Trump goes down as worst President in US history and could even see prison time.

Not yet. But if the midterms go really bad, the GOP will look to 2028 and won't care about Trump. In fact he will become the fall guy. Sure they won't want to convict Trump but if it is determined that the party is better off for doing it, they will.
