I'm not so sure.  Once Trump becomes very unpopular, he starts losing his hold over the party.  Already the GOP candidate for governor scrubbed his website of all mentions of Trump.  ( see https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-e … rcna599251 )

If the midterms are a true Dem landslide, the Republicans will likely be blaming Trump and call on him to resign.  If he doesn't, some will likely cross the aisle to vote YES on impeachment.  If things keep going this bad, maybe even a CONVICTION.
