Two Ukrainian model agencies — “L-Models” and “Linea 12” — appear in the “Epstein files”

Typical Bagger Behavior

We spoke with the head of “L12” and former models of these agencies (spoiler: sex trafficking do exist, but there are nuances)

On January 30, the US Department of Justice released several million new documents related to the case of financier, fraudster and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. They found a Ukrainian trace. The “Epstein files” mention two active Ukrainian model agencies — “Linea 12 Models” and “L-Models”. These references indicate that the Ukrainian modeling market was investigated in Epstein’s interests by the famous French model scout Jean-Luc Brunel (Brunel was arrested and tried six years ago, but Ukrainian models were not involved in the case). Brunel’s connection with Epstein and Ukraine was known before: another Ukrainian agency — “1Mother Agency” — is mentioned in Brunel’s own defamation lawsuit. Screenshots of the mentions of Ukrainian agencies were distributed on Ukrainian social networks and collected millions of views. Babel correspondent Yuliia Hyra investigated all the references in the “Epstein files” that relate to the Ukrainian fashion industry. She spoke with Masha Manyuk and four women who worked as models at the “Linea12” and “L-Models” agencies. According to them, sex trafficking in the Ukrainian fashion industry did exist, but separately from these two agencies.

For this article, Babel spoke with Oleksandra Andrievska (“Linea12”), one girl on condition of anonymity (“Linea12”), Chris Kulyk (“L-Models”), and another girl (“L-Models”) on condition of anonymity.

“Linea 12 Models” is mentioned in correspondence with Jeffrey Epsteinʼs friend Jean-Luc Brunel, who was tried for human trafficking. We spoke to the agencyʼs head and two models

On October 28, 2010, Jean-Luc Brunel forwarded his correspondence with Masha Manyuk, the head of the Kyiv-based model agency “Linea 12 Models”, to Jeffrey Epsteinʼs email address. They discussed the work plans of a Ukrainian model whom Brunel had met earlier in Paris.

Jean-Luc offers to organize a job for the girl in the USA. He writes that he is interested in her coming to New York at an official invitation to continue working with his agency “MC2 Management”.

In his letter, Manyuk specifies the details: when it is best for the model to come to the USA, for what period the trip is planned, and who should send the representation agreement.

Manyukʼs real name is Maryna, but since her youth she was called Masha (she told about this in one of her interviews). Former Ukrainian model, famous host of the reality show "Masha and the Models" on the "TET" TV channel. She is in a civil marriage with Yuriy Hromnytskyi, the spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister during the Yanukovych era Borys Kolesnikov.
