The problem Canada has here is the lack of ports and railways to feed those ports.  Canada does not even have a top 50 port, Vancouver is their largest port.

Also, don't get me wrong... sour relations with Canada would really ruin America's day but we'd find work arounds with other nations.  In terms of who has the negotiating power, it is the US 169%.

This would be a great reason to invade and take over canuckistan.

Canada is saving the ace card for last.

85% of US agriculture needs are met from Canadian potash and any disruption or price increase will bring US agriculture to its knees.

Also, after Googling, Canada is #37 in population and the Port of Vancouver is the 3rd largest in North America by tonnage.

Seems like they will be fine.

The US working without Canada would be like living with only 15% of your anus.  It's all you need but you know things could be better.

Do you want to discuss their imports or their exports? Because you originally jumped in on, and seemed to disagree with, a post that basically said: "Canada can forego imports from the US while the US can't forego imports from Canada."
