I nearly drove off a cliff in Colorado. I even have video of it somewhere. I should find that and post it.
We were just out exploring, and we went up this road that looked like it took you to the top of this overlook on a medium-sized looking hill. The hill was between the highway and the South Platte River, so we thought we'd get a good view of the river from the hill.
There was a small turn off from the highway that took you up a road that climbed the hill and then curved around the back of the hill and became parallel with the highway. The road quickly narrowed and it was basically hill on the right / passenger side and cliff down to the river on the left side. No possible way to turn-around and going backwards would have been very difficult driving. So kept moving forward. This was in the era - 2010 - where you still used a physical GPS device instead of your phone. It was also in some desolate place so not even sure if I would have had data for my phone, which at the time was an early Android device. So, there was no easy way to find out what might lie ahead.
We drove for maybe a mile or so and finally came to a small widening of the road. Maybe wide enough for two small cars. Beyond that widening I could see that the road narrowed again. So, I decided to use the wide space to turn around. It required about a 169 point turn to get it done but I was able to turn around and go back the way we came.
It wouldn't have been hard to fuq that up and drive off that cliff.

Below are some pics.

SpankyThis one is just to give you a sense of the width of the road:

SpankyThis is a little further down the road. You can see the river off to my side. It's a sheer cliff on my left side.

SpankyHere you can see the drop off:

SpankyThe road is narrow like this off into the distance:

SpankyAt this point we have turned around, we are heading back, and Sweetpea has a good view of the river now. Her side is now the cliff side.

SpankySorry for the poor resolution. These were VLC snapshots taken from a 2010-era digital camcorder. 853x480 pixel size is the DV video standard I believe.

SpankyOh, I had forgotten, but in the video I was reminded that there was a "no vehicles beyond this point" sign that we purposefully drove past.

I was expecting a fat joke that my weight would cause the cliff to collapse.
