SpankyThe store would have a name like "Try Fine Things".
I'd charge people to try expensive booze and expensive headphones.
I'd also sell those items, but I won't be able to compete on price so the primary revenue stream would be the "try it" business.

SamplesBoiIt's not a terrible idea. What's what high class hotels do in some ways. Car places that rent expensive cars for a day, etc.

SamplesBoiI would call it "Epi Curious?"
I see there is already a brand called Epicurious though so that might be a problem.

Their peaceful and generous nature make them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture.Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real Estate values are fueled by the influx of African Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nurturing of these communities, an example of all they have achieved by their enthusiasm for self-improvement through hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.

I dare you to open this store in a black neighborhood.

That makes no sense. This idea requires patrons that have money.
Ideal place is actually The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Sure. Are there any black neighborhoods with the right high-income demographics?

Chicago: Sedgwick St, between Division St & Blackhawk St.
You'll have a black neighborhood to your west (Cabrini Green), and a wealthy neighborhood to your east (Gold Coast).
Let's see who shows up at your store.

That’s not very convenient for me. I live in the western suburbs.

Retail is dead. OTOH, retail space should be cheap.
........................................................................
I think Tom’s old Sauce Empire retail space is still empty.

I think technology has already superseded your market for the bulk of that segment. There are a few headphone/speaker matching apps and platforms already that those wanting to "experience" a premium soundstage can easily access with their computer or phone. The great bulk of that segment will go that route. Certainly 2 or 3 out of say a hundred might be inclined to pay for physically trying out headphones. Like you, buying a headphone collection. How many of your kind of consumerism are out there to sell a product or service to that will not use the existing technology? The final word will prove to be that without training and acclimated listening skills, 95% of consumers won't the know the difference.
I doubt there is the volume to sustain such a business.
Maybe if it's like a sidewalk weed bodega w/headphones. But of course they will just get stolen.

How hard is it to get a liquor license? What kind of music?

Starting a retail store is extremely difficult - it requires engagement with the local community, assessing the retail space, and integration with local chambers of commerce. You barely leave your house.
I can try headphones for free from Amazon. I can try high end liquor at the local bar.

SamplesBoiHow about a range with high class handguns in the back?
