You think your grandpa is a cheap bastard who hates your guts? Meet J. Paul Getty

A multimillionaire whose grandson was kidnapped for ransom. He told them to fuq off he didn’t care. He didn’t ask for proof, the kidnappers sent it anyway: the kid’s ear. Grandpa still wouldn’t pay

Jean Paul Getty (1892–1976) was an American industrialist who built the Getty Oil Company and was once named the richest private citizen in the world. Famous both for his business empire and his extreme frugality, he left a massive legacy in the art and cultural world.

The grandson John Paul Getty III was found alive on December 15, 1973, after his grandfather paid a reduced ransom. However, the horrific trauma of the abduction, combined with alcohol and drug abuse, culminated in a 1981 drug-induced stroke that left him partially blind and quadriplegic. He remained permanently disabled until his death in 2011.

Following his release, Getty’s life was defined by the long-term impact of his harrowing ordeal:
Life after Rescue: He eventually underwent ear reconstruction surgery, got married, and had a son, the actor Balthazar Getty. However, as detailed by People.com, he struggled to reclaim a normal life and suffered from severe post-traumatic stress.

1981 Stroke: At the age of 25, he suffered a debilitating stroke caused by a drug overdose, leaving him paralyzed and unable to speak.
Care and Passing: He required round-the-clock care, largely provided by his mother, Gail Harris. He lived out his remaining years heavily handicapped before passing away on February 5, 2011, at the age of 54.

Ransom was $17 million

After the kids’ ear arrived and the kidnappers promised to send the kid back in pieces, gramps reluctantly agreed to pay $2.2 million, since accountants confirmed that was the most he could write off on his taxes lol
Ransom was lowered to $3 million, but gramps said not a dime more than $2.2 million

His own son (the kid’s dad) had to borrow $800,000 as a loan from grandpa, at 4% interest lol

He was once the equivalent of Elon Musk, the richest man in America.

Lots of Getty buildings & foundations & museums remain, it was the fortune from the Getty Oil empire.

Kid was probably an au-type faggot, always complaining about the rich not paying their 'fair share'. lol
