I try to avoid them all I can but they don't usually disclose the shipper in advance of ordering (they ought to be required by law to do that).

I have all my packages sent UPS set to automatically go to a UPS store for pickup. This one is 52 pounds so apparently they refused to do that and sent it to my home instead. Delivery was going to be Sunday. Then they moved it to Friday. I wake up today and now it is "Today, May 07 by 9:00 P.M." and with a signature required.

So now I'm supposed to sit here all day and night waiting for these assholes. All because the package was maybe two pounds over the limit for the UPS store. And worse my experience is when it says by 9pm, half the time it never actually gets delivered that day and is the next day instead.

It's 2026 and you can't provide a two hour delivery window???! Come on.

OK wait. It does show where the truck is. I guess that's something. But there is no information about how many stops away, route taken, ETA, etc.

I guess I'll wait here until. 2 or 3pm. After that, fuq it.

I doubt they will even try to deliver it given the heat and the weight.

This seems to happen to you a lot. You've posted this same thing many times. You need to find another solution such as an Amazon locker.

Just like your continual chasing of linux bugs because of your addiction to updating, you seem to have too much time on your hands.

Well I am in the Amazon Vine program so I have 400 orders in the last year. I do use Amazon lockers, where possible, but some items are too heavy for the lockers or come Fedex (very rarely) or UPS (maybe 5% or so).

I only update once a month or every other month these days. Everything just works. To update "pacman -Syu", work in another window and let it run, 15 minutes later optionally reboot. Done. shrug

I only update software when I have a pressing need (on my phone, many apps won't be updated for over a year and I keep a copy of all APKs in case I need to downgrade).

Updating just means "free beta testing" to me, and with the exception of fixing a specific problem I have, has only led to misery for me..... bugs introduced, features removed/ruined, etc.

Personally, I have a much better experience with UPS than with USPS.

That was like 4+ years ago when I first did a re-install. All I've done with my desktop is update it. That's it for the last two years. Everything just works.

The worst issues I have these days is from my cat jumping on my keyboard and somehow doing some crazy key combination which does something I never heard of before. Then I have to spend an hour figuring it all out. lol

Well.... He went right down my street. Dropped a package off ten houses down across the street and is now about half a mile away again.

UPS prioritizes business customers over residential. With work from home, residential addresses on your block might have priority.

Two things suck about Android.

1. They keep changing everything with each major update. So it's a PITA to elderly or technologically challenged users. And it's slightly annoying to me.

2. They have way too many configuration options. Actually having the options is cool, but they are horrible about prioritizing the most important ones in the UI and making all options visible. Compound that with #1 (things changing constantly) and it makes it worse.

Apple in contrast gives you few options and if you are a power user you likely will not be able to do some things you would prefer to be able to do. But to be fair, it has been a while since I regularly used an Apple product.

If you think are doing power work on a phone then you aren't a power user.

not really - maybe in the early days of development. It's pretty polished now and more customizable. Also I can pick any device and don't have to pay the Apple status symbol tax.

You want to be able to customize just for the sake of customization not because you actually need these features.
