Gee, I wonder why people don't want to eat there anymore?

Someone here once cancelled Tom's dinner reservation for free

.,snobs crying over snobs cancelling.
Well, it says less than 24 hours. I'm not in the business - but one could argue it's lost opportunity cost if they're truly so busy that it's basically reservation only. Same with airline tickets - you're basically SOL if you can't make it for some reason.

Samples_Boi20 somethings these days with a little money in SF act like total idiots when it comes to day to day things that their parents should have taught them about.
Everyone knows that it is terrible to book multiple reservations that you have no intention of keeping just to keep your options open. Or being so flaky that you cost a restaurant serious money.
There are so many other ways these kids are clueless.
The only way to cope is to give them the consequences that their parents never did.
I have to call in tickets and tows or these clowns will park on the sidewalk if they can't find parking. The only way they learn is a hit to the pocketbook.

There's no snobbery here. Just idiots behaving so incredibly badly they have to be bitchslapped.

anon user #3And if they cancel or no show then they get the $75 "fee" AND can still sit someone else at that table anyway. So as usual it is really about GREED.
The proper thing to do is deny future reservations if people cancel too often. Of course that doesn't result in being able to bring in an extra $1000 a day by taking advantage of people...

Good point. I couldn't imagine deliberately flaking on a reservation. It happened to me a couple of years back, when we had a reservation at THE RIB ROOM in New Orleans. Our plane got diverted to ATLANTA, due to global warming or something.

Isn't the Rib Room the place that got shut down for using cadmium in their bbq sauce?

SamplesBoiIt's just a contract. If you don't like the contract, don't fuqing accept the contract.
That being said, your bank is your bank and not their bank. If they don't have a signature in ink, I bet any chargebacks would be honored on your behalf.
They didn't make it clear...
