SAN FRANCISCO - An 80-year-old woman accused of driving at a high rate of speed and crashing into a family of four, killing them, at a San Francisco bus stop nearly two years ago, appeared in court on Friday. Mary Fong Lau had pleaded no contest to four felony counts of vehicular manslaughter in that crash.
Prison time unlikely
The Superior Court judge in that case indicated Lau will likely get probation and no prison time after factoring in her age, remorse, and lack of criminal history.
The judge said she would likely serve two to three years probation and be banned from driving.
James Quadra, the attorney of the victims' relatives, said they were appalled at this development in the crash where a single family, including two children ages two and under, were killed.
Quadra said, "a no-contest plea avoids the moral accountability that this case demands."
"What happened on March 16, 2024 was not a minor mistake. Ms. Lau drove at an extreme rate of speed through a residential neighborhood and wiped out an entire young family who were simply waiting for a bus.," said Quadra. "Diego, Matilde, one-year-old Joaquim, and three-month-old Cauê are gone forever."

She was going over 80 down an SF street and slammed into the bus stop.
One person was thrown 100 ft. The baby was the last to die, about a week later.
Interestingly, Lau's husband was also killed in a car accident but it was long ago.
Anyway, this isn't just a liberal thing, in many places people who cause these horrific accidents are given light sentences. For instance,
where I grew up, a place that was not liberal, a 16 year old drove 65 mph down a city street and killed a 20 year old gymnist who was crossing. He was
learning disabled, and was doing okay in high school, and so he wasn't even charged.

The judge is right in that what the fuq is the point of a 'reformatory' prison sentence for someone of that age.
So kill them instead.

Some laws do not apply to Asian people there. Refuse to sell your house to an Asian, and prepare to be hung. But the property concept of "once Chinese, always Chinese" is so common it may as well be chiseled in stone.
Driving is another. We all know the lady wiped those folks out, but the city so fuqed up that the intersection - as an excuse - has been rendered just about useless.
