First strike on US F-35: Iran hits stealth jet in central airspace

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says it has successfully hit a US Air Force F-35 stealth fighter jet in central Iran's airspace.
According to a statement released by the IRGC on its official news website on Thursday, the jet was struck at 2:50 a.m. local time by the IRGC’s advanced, modern air defense systems.
"The fate of the fighter jet is unclear and under investigation, and the likelihood of its crash is very high," it said.

An F-35 fighter jet flying a combat mission over Iran made an emergency landing at a U.S. airbase in the Middle East, the Pentagon said, due to what sources told CNN they suspect was Iranian fire.
In a statement sent to Forbes, U.S. Central Command spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins said the military was aware of the reported emergency landing, and confirmed the aircraft landed safely and the pilot was in “stable condition.”

If you make "an emergency landing" that means just that. You landed
As opposed to a crash where the pilot would likely be injured
So how can you make an emergency landing but the pilot "is in stable condition" ?
