I'm going to get a small fireproof safe.

SockpuppetIf you have a lot of data that can be true. I use it once a year for a yearly backup.
On-prem I have several copies.
I think you definitely want at least one off-premise copy. I used to put backups in a safe deposit box. But I’m too lazy for that.

What do you consider to be a lot of data?

I have 8TB of data that I upload yearly. It takes a long time.

Thank you.

What company is best for about 10tb of data backed up daily from 5 locations?
Been doing Monthly manual backups to a USB I carry with me and daily to another on site computer but want something automated off-site soon.
TIA

The two major providers, Azure and AWS, offer effectively equal pricing on cold storage.
Backing up 10TB of data DAILY is a lot from a bandwidth perspective. Even at 10Gbps, you'd need 2.5hours a day. At 1Gbps, it would be a full day.

The consumer tiers have 2tb and 10tb Plus $150 for encryption. Lifetime, but with a 2tb transfer limit per month? even of the 10tb tier. witch is about $1375 all together. That was pcloud.
Basically it's my own self made music stuff I want to, vainly, archive. I need to evaluate the footprint of just the essential components. Everything else, can be reinstalled or is otherwise insured.

If you're lookin' for cheap, consider a Hetzner storage box.
Cheap, with their RAID/ZFS redundancy being your backup at that end. And, you'll have to push your backup to Germany. Works with Arq or restic.

$1375 to store 10TB for a year?
Dude. That's a massive ripoff.
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/prici … age/blobs/
On Azure it would be $240 for the year.

What does "lifetime" mean?

I think it said 99 years.

Until that company's bankruptcy in 18 months.

1190 / 220 = 5.5 year before you break even.
In 5.5 years, the cost to store 10TB on Azure will probably be $90 a year.

I will guess even cheaper than that as these data centers become obsolete and online storage hits a glut.

Error due to 10 min post wait wtf

Would only need to update the changes which might be 20 gb a day max probably avg 10gb Mon - Fri and zero on weekends
I think the ease of software and 5 logins might be the biggest issue.

I was going to say I've been downloading porn a couple times a week for the last 25 years and I have nowhere near 10 TBs worth.

I just split between work and home.

Life always means “life of the company” which is ~3 years.
