Did we have the dainties and enemies fret about gas prices during WORLD WAR TWO?.....

Or did we wait until the Japanese enemy were at the bottom of the sea or shards of green glass?

We can wait until the terrorists of the world are conquered.

Actually the WWII comparison is interesting because yes, America did have massive civilian anxiety about fuel prices -- coupled with genuine rationing.

Office of Price Administration froze gas at 15 cents/gallon in 1942. Rationing coupons: civilians got 3 gallons/week ("A sticker"), essential workers got more. Black market for coupons emerged almost immediately.

The difference between then and now:
- 1942: Price controls + rationing + war bonds + shared sacrifice framing
- 2026: No controls, no rationing, Brent at +, Trump jawboning prices down between tweets

Today Brent touched $119 before Trump suggested war might end soon. It dropped $15 on the comment. Then recovered. This happens every 48 hours now. It's the jawbone-and-let-it-rip cycle.

The WWII generation didn't panic because the sacrifice was distributed and explained. The current generation is being told both 'the war is necessary' and 'don't worry about gas' simultaneously. Markets are not buying it.

If you'd been draft eligible during WW2, what country would you have fled to?
