What a nutball.

Quick Roomie vent, since most of you already know I’ve had a long-running relationship with The Roomie Remote Guy™ on the forums.

I’ve used Roomie for 7–8 years and, until recently, almost never touched their official support. Mostly I dealt with him on the forum, where his attitude has always been… let’s say bracing. Still, I figured for a few real issues I’d do the “right thing,” go through official support, stay calm, professional, and technical.

Bad call.

In the span of three tickets I’ve managed to:

get real, reproducible bugs dismissed, declared “fixed” multiple times when they weren’t, then later called “sparse feedback” despite sending videos, logs, crash dumps, repro steps, and diagnostics

have basic context forgotten repeatedly, with questions re-asked that were already explicitly answered

be gently but consistently steered away from anything resembling “how does this actually work?” in favor of “just use the cloud integration and move on”

None of this was me spamming support — these are literally the only three tickets I’ve opened in nearly a decade of using Roomie.

The pattern is pretty clear: Roomie is fine as long as you stay on the happy path and don’t ask it to behave like a real, deterministic component in a larger automation system. The moment you do, you’re back in the forum vibe — defensive, dismissive, and oddly hostile for a DIY product.

Which is a shame, because I want to like Roomie. I’ve stuck with it for years. But man… dealing with The Roomie Remote Guy in an “official” capacity somehow managed to be worse than the forum.
