Goodwill announced in April that it would close 13 locations, all in California. The locations are a mix of stores and donation sites.

Imagine your grandparents with no real income who now live off social security and whatever they live accumulated in savings.  The govt would tax the value of all the assets they’ve collected over their lifetime.  Let’s say grandpa has a $1,000,000 net worth but very little cash.  The gov’t would tax the value of assets and grandpa would have to pay $50,000 in taxes annually. It’s like a property tax but not just on your home  everything they own!

I entirely agree and Elon needs to use talent where it exists.  However, even the talent class can move too, and probably will as taxes rise.  None of these actual multi-billionaires need to live in California, most are on the move all the time anyway.  I'd actually be happy to live in LV.  Lots of sunshine and the hotness of the weather doesn't really matter much at all as long as the electricity stays on,.  LA is a very very short hop on a jet, less than a day trip.  30 minutes if you don't have to do security?  That's 1/2 the time of me driving from Rockford to Schaumburg.
