Does AI lie ? Lets test that idea with America's favorite President

AI Overview

There is no confirmed evidence or official record that former President Bill Clinton was ever on Jeffrey Epstein's private Caribbean island, Little St. James.

Official Denials: Representatives for Bill Clinton have consistently stated he never visited the island, Epstein's ranch in New Mexico, or his Palm Beach residence.

Epstein & Maxwell Denials: Both Jeffrey Epstein (in a 2011 email) and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell (in a recorded interview) denied that Clinton ever visited the island, calling such stories a "complete and utter fantasy" or "an obvious lie".

Secret Service Records: A Freedom of Information Act request to the U.S. Secret Service found no evidence or travel logs indicating that Clinton ever visited Epstein's island.

One photo shows him sitting on a private plane, smiling and slightly red-faced, with a young blonde draped across the arm of his chair. In another image, he is relaxing, shirtless, in a hot tub with his arms behind his head, the face of the person beside him redacted in a black box.
There he is, grinning next to Mick Jagger in a button-down shirt and blazer. And again, swimming in a luxuriously marble-tiled indoor pool alongside Ghislaine Maxwell, who helped run Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.
And smiling broadly in a silky patterned shirt, standing shoulder to shoulder with Mr. Epstein.

Farmer also sued the DOJ in July, alleging the Clinton administration FBI "chose to do absolutely nothing" with her complaint in 1996 and that, in the years since, Epstein was able to victimize more women. Farmer said she also complained again to the FBI in 2006 during the Bush administration.

If by"AI" you mean LLMs (which is what most people are talking about) they don't exactly "lie" - they just synthesize plausible looking text that generally matches the context seen in the source corpus. Since generally these models are trained on media that contains fair amounts of lies, propaganda and outright nonsense their synthesized output also contains lies propaganda and nonsense. An additional problem is that they are easily "fooled" by sarcasm - one good example being the suggestion to use Elmer's glue to stick cheese on your pizza. To a human this is obviously shytposting - but since it was funny enough to be widely reposted an LLM picked it up and started offering it as actual cooking advice.
