Asking for an old friend.

Diarrhetrius BrownYes but it depends on your income and filing status.
We receive $52,000 a year from social security and if that was all that we had we'd have zero taxes.
For a good gas on what your taxes on your social security would be this works really well.

Diarrhetrius Brown52,000 a year doesn't sound all that great for two people but when you consider if that is all you got and you have zero taxes it's a really not a bad deal.

In 1983, I got my first job at $22,900 per year, and had $10,000 in student loans outstanding. I was unable to afford a new car, or nyc rent on an apartment, or even consider purchasing a home, and still pay for food and everything.
That is equivalent to about $68,000 today, which is way above the national average and median.
I don't see how anyone is surviving at all.

I don't remember the exact amount but in 1983 I think I was making around $50,000 a year I know I got to the point where I no longer had to pay social security taxes cuz I had reached the limit.
