For the same reason we've never had a common cold vaccine, this family of viruses mutates a lot and being "novel" nobody really has the genetic lineage that would give us a hedge on producing antibodies (think the tribes in south america who can die from exposure to the common cold simply because their lineage does not include genetics for this virus). It's like running after a moving target but at least getting vaxxed for an older version of the virus buys time for the immune system to figure out the antibodies before they take over. Being non-vaxxed doesn't give a head start and you end up with far stronger symptoms.

it just trims leading spaces at the beginning of the line. I'm sure there is an unicode charcter that looks like a space but isn't I couldn't be bothered to look it up. You're the master at high ASCII.
