Engineers are licensed professionals and what they design has to work or they will be sued into oblivion and possibly charged criminally.

Nobody who has used a computer would dare drive over a bridge designed by a software "engineer".

Yep, just like sanitation engineers. It's important to make sure that operating rooms are properly cleaned with the right chemicals and that they put yellow signs up to help make sure that nobody slips and hurts themselves.

Yes, I read that in the other thread and when I was done laughing, I posted the reminder. Hell, just the fact that someone who dropped out of high school is a qualified software "engineer" renders the term meaningless, which of course only bolsters my point.

Not everyone is an actual engineer and it accomplishes nothing positive to pretend otherwise.
