It looks like political events go in 20 year cycles

2004: George W. Bush wins his second term to the White House with a slim majority of the national popular vote
2006: America is involved in an unpopular war in the Middle East (Iraq) and Republicans lose majorities in both the House and Senate to the Dems in a blue wave
2008: Economy crashes and the banking, mortgage and auto industries all get bailed out.  The Republican nominee for President (McCain) loses badly to the young, charismatic Democratic nominee (Obama) that most voters knew little about even 2 years prior.  Dems also expand their majorities in both the House and Senate.

2024: Donald Trump wins his second term to the White House with a slim majority of the national popular vote
2026: America is involved in an unpopular war in the Middle East (Iran) and Republicans lose majorities in both the House and Senate to the Dems in a blue tsunami
If the past predicts the future then we can expect for 2028: Economy crashes and certain industries (possibly banks and Big Tech) get bailed out.  Whoever the Republican nominee for President ends up being will lose badly to the young, charismatic Democratic nominee that most voters knew little about even 2 years prior.  Dems also expand their majorities in both the House and Senate.
