Andre D’Jallon Thigpen, 21
The Henderson Police Department arrested Andre D’Jallon Thigpen, 22, on Friday in connection with the deaths of Valencia Hampton and Christopher Perry, both 32. The Clark County coroner’s office ruled both their deaths homicides from multiple gunshot wounds.
Thigpen faces two felony counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and three felony counts of discharging a firearm from or within a structure or vehicle, online Henderson Justice Court records show.
Police said officers responded to a 911 call around 7 a.m. on Friday about multiple gunshots at Cascade Apartments in Henderson, near East Lake Mead Parkway and East Warm Springs Road.
Officers found Hampton and Perry with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment, but the two were pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts from the Henderson Fire Department.
Perry’s brother said Perry and Hampton lived in separate apartments and co-parented their son, according to the report. Hampton lived with Thigpen, who is her brother, and her son, while Perry lived with his brother and his father, Perry’s brother told police. The report said Perry’s brother described Thigpen having a good relationship with Perry.
Hampton and Perry’s son told investigators he had stayed at his father’s apartment the night before the shooting because Hampton and Thigpen had been arguing.
The boy, in middle school, said he went to Hampton’s residence to get ready for school and found his mother arguing with Thigpen about him not cleaning up after himself. Perry had joined in the argument and the boy left for school on his e-scooter before the shooting, the report said.
The boy said Thigpen and Hampton also had an argument about Thigpen’s cleanliness two nights before the shooting, according to the report.
Thigpen had repeatedly poked his sister, and Hampton struck her brother before the two engaged in a tug-of-war over a door during that argument, the boy told police. That day was the only time the boy had seen his family be aggressive with one another, he added.
Police arrested Thigpen around 9:10 a.m. on Friday near Lake Las Vegas, the report said. Detectives said Thigpen had fled the apartment in Hampton’s car, which he later crashed at a bike shop along East Lake Mead Parkway near Lake Las Vegas.
Investigators found a black handgun and bullets in the backpack that Thigpen had when he was arrested, police said. Thigpen refused to speak with investigators following his arrest, the report said.
Thigpen’s next court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, online Henderson Justice Court records show.
