Oakland.   The warehouse and offices where Dad did business, was at the time a busy and thriving industrial and commerce district.   Trucks moving in and out.  Catering trucks bringing lunch to sell.   Oakland Yellow Cab was right across the street  (I learned a lot about vehicle maintenance and two way radios there.  It was safe to do, just watch crossing the busy street).
