The NYC runway model scene is a very brutal situation for males and no place for a healthy young man. It destroys them. 

They are so fuqing hungry but have to be extremely skinny to wear the clothes well. A normal weight teen will look like an opie hick on a runway. It’s all about being extremely underweight to make the clothes hang and move well. Being teen males they are bursting with testosterone leaving them hungry as the Hulk, no choice but to turn to drugs for decreased appetite + increased energy. Ditching the diet and scarfing a pizza is not an option when the select $$$$ runway clothes are one size only. 
Pale? Dark circles under eyes? Angular face with bones showing? All positives. There is makeup for the acne. 

Yes female models have pressures too but they are spared the testosterone rage and hunger and despair. Girls can just lay around eating gummy bears.

With the searing hunger and testosterone soaring, the anxiety and despair kicks in with some body dysmorphia. They want plastic surgery for multiple reasons. One is noses look too big, but that is only a side effect of being emaciated. Very unhappy & unhealthy scene.
