Advocating for gun rights doesn't mean we don't need security.  You're being intentionally stupid and "intentionally" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Mr. Kirk was a strong supporter of gun rights.

At a 2023 event by TPUSA Faith, a division of Turning Point USA, he defended the Second Amendment as a critical means to “defend yourself against a tyrannical government.” He said it would be impossible to avoid gun deaths in a society with an armed citizenry, but he believed the benefits of gun rights outweighed the costs.

“I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights,” he said.

Mr. Kirk said the way to reduce gun violence was simple: Put guns into the hands of more Americans.

“If our money and our sporting events and our airplanes have armed guards, why don’t our children?” he asked.

The shooter basically did prove him wrong.  With finality.

The way to make everyone safer is to remove hate, not to hand everyone a rifle.

Kirk sought to do that through public debate. A tradition going back millennia.  However, democrats knew they could not compete in the marketplace of ideas and so they burned that market down.  The way to make everyone safer is through understanding, not assassination.  You MUST have some sort of learning disability.

When are California grocery stores going to start suing the cops for not preventing obvious and likely theft of their stores?

IF the security team didn't think the security was adequate, time to cancel the event.

Whatever happened to that personal responsibility?

My guess is it is all just "Bagger Bullshyt" and trying to blame someone else.  Of course it was Utah so that makes it harder to "blame the Dems" or the "brown people."

The school should have never approved the event, especially if it required some massive level of security.  Taxpayers shouldn’t have to pick up the bill for some political rally/fund raiser.

Going forward, universities should allow NO TPUSA or other nutball speakers.

The attorneys for Kirk's family have got to be hoping for a settlement.  They imply there was a known threat about snipers from the roof, which frankly is a little hard to believe given the lone gunman involved.
