I am not so sure.

I hope you are right.

But I do fear that Trump destroyed 80 years of good will in 80 days and that we can never get that good will back. Or, it will take us decades to get it back. What people learned is that if you put all your eggs in the America basket that America can go crazy at a moment's notice and completely overturn the apple cart with no warning.

Asked by a reporter Monday about issuing warnings to Tehran’s financial partners instead of the promised “economic D-Day,” the Treasury secretary said he wanted countries to shift away from Iran before it was too late.

“Why would I want to blow up the global financial system?” Bessent said. “We believe that it is important to level set and give people a cure period.”

He added, “But they should know that that will move very quickly and that we are serious. Secondary sanctions are a very powerful tool.”
