I was thinking about those maps - I assume they are based on the BLS occupational data, and I can't really see how transfer payments - even if they were a very significant part of the state income - would affect that.

Ah, that actually makes sense - it hadn't occurred to me because it's not something I would think of doing, but it's certainly an activity that would count as "hospitality" for statistical purposes.

But they do have Yellowstone National Park, and other major tourist attractions.
