I had a friend whose parents are from another country - so into soccer - but they watched at a bar because tickets were ~$2,000 a fuqing pop.
I MIGHT pay $50 as a novelty to watch in person (as like a one time thing). The US just doesn't have the fan base to justify these insane prices. I know some clever MBA out of Harvard probably had a very convincing PowerPoint detailing how they could maximize revenue from the few die-hard fans out there.
