We definitely have the resources to accomplish this but instead we feel we must perpetuate some sort of artificial scarcity and encourage wealth and resource hoarding.  Many of us even think this is the most optimal way of doing things...

Further think about the irrationality of hoarding all the wealth you can right up until your death and at the expense of thousands or even millions of other people.  Where do you think you are taking all that wealth exactly?
